ESSENTIAL DUTES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with The Curator and Director to help create programing that will engage the community on various topics. Many of the events occur during The Playground and Late Nights at the Museum.
  • Develop community partners to assist in workshops.
  • Develop strategic relationships, attend trade shows, conduct informal presentations at universities, clubs, and civic groups.
  • Assist in obtaining sponsorships and grants.
  • Actively promote and collaborate with Legend’s Global marketing department ensuring activities and initiatives are being captured and shared with the community.
  • Schedule regular outreach exhibitions and maintain a calendar of all outreach activities, including community events, workshops, and appearances.
  • Help with the organization of special events, including donor/volunteer appreciation events and other fundraising initiatives.
  • Assist in the cultivation and development of proposals for events and workshops.
  • Assist with screening and recruiting volunteers and providing them with training and support.
  • Perform administrative duties, such as overseeing mailings, answering phones, monitoring budget information, and reporting on financial issues.
  • Delivering marketing materials throughout the community.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in social work, communications, marketing, business or related fields or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • 2 plus years of experience in conducting community outreach, community engagement and/or non- profit fund development preferred.
  • Experience with grant writing is preferred.
  • Background in African American studies/outreach preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of agency vision, mission, and services.
  • Knowledge of social media and other basic marketing platforms.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and manage multiple projects at one time.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing needs and time pressures.
  • Ability to disseminate information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and build relationships with coworkers, volunteers, customers, donors, and vendors.
  • Ability to create and sustain positive working relationships at all levels of the company; internal and external.
  • Proven relationship-building skills to support collaboration and partnership activities.
  • Ability to track, analyze, and adjust programs and processes as necessary.
